So, today I really wanted to bake something. I know how much the people that I love LOOOOVE chocolate, so it was only appropriate that I made something Brownie. :) I decided to make my Decedent Brownie recipe, as this has been a big hit in the past. For those of you who want to make this on your own, I'll include some step by step pics and directions. Please realize that all of the recipes that I've made are "eye balled " approximates, so if it goes REALLY crazy wrong, give me a call and I'll walk you along the steps I do. :)
Hope you enjoy! Also, if you aren't a huge fan of strawberries, can't eat them, or you're making this for something you're not sure about, you can easily leave them out and it's still super yummy. I made one for a pregnant friend of mine this morning, and left them out as I wasn't sure how she would handle them. :)
This is the end result, which can be done several ways, but I decided on a full strawberry with 8 slices and filled with the Chocolate butter-cream frosting. :) Another great touch is chocolate syrup, but I didn't have any. :)
Ingredients:
1 family size box of Pillsbury chocolate fudge brownie mix (19.5 oz box)
*1/2 cup of oil
*1/4 cup water
*2 eggs
strawberries (I would get 1lb just so you can eat some along the way, cause who doesn't do that, haha)
1 package of Hershey's special Dark chocolate hot cocoa mix (1.25 oz)
1/4 cup of powdered or confectioners sugar
1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) of butter
1-2 tablespoons of milk (I use Vit D milk, but I don't think it matters much in frosting)
First you need a box of Pillsbury family size Chocolate Fudge brownie mix. I find that since I can't eat chocolate, using a boxed mix is the easiest way to ensure it will be consistent. Follow the directions per the box, and bake in an 8x11.5 pan if possible. This makes the brownies thick & chewy. I baked them for 33 minutes on the middle rack, and my oven is electric, so make any needed changes if you cook with gas. :)
While the brownies are baking, you'll want to make your fill. This includes that last 4 ingredients on the ingredient list. Put them in your mixing bowl (mix the dry ones first, then add the butter then the milk slowly) and mix on low till all the ingredients are blended, then mix on High (10 on a kitchen aid) till the fill is a silver like light brown (about 3-4 minutes). Once mixed divide in to 4 equal parts. :)
Once your brownies are finished, and cooled (cooled is very important because the fill will go somewhat liquid if it's warmed because it's a butter-cream fill. Cute them in to 8 same sized pieces.
Take one brownie piece and place 2/3 of one of the portions of fill on top of the brownie. slice up 1 medium sized strawberry on top of it, then place the other 1/3 of the fill on top of that.
Once you've done this, place another brownie on top of it. You've now completed 90% of the brownie, and could actually stop here if you want. The rest is all decoration! :)
Voila!!!!
Now go get a spoon or fork and have fun eating!
These are also great chilled!
YUMMY!
